Welcome to Balthi du Plessis & Associates
"Like most things a project is
all about... attitude.
Is it a chore or is it a chance -
a chance to do Something Great?"
Tom Peters, "Re-imagine" 2004.
A principle that I whole-heartedly support,
and that is the core of my business philosophy.

Through my eyes

Welcome to my new website.
One of my latest products for 2012 is special heritage training. During the course of my work as a heritage consultant and exhibition designer it was obvious that there is a huge need for heritage training specifically for undergraduate heritage workers.

The training courses are designed to facilitate individual needs based on clients’ requirements. All courses include a tutor scheme to ensure that the practical application of the theory can be monitored. [read more...]

To deliver a quality and cost- effective service of international standards to the heritage industry.

To be a leader in transforming the heritage industry in South Africa into a competitive, financially viable and growing industry, while simultaneously addressing the huge need for transformation and a new African “image” for heritage in this country.

He underwrites the principles of equity and poverty relief and accommodates it where possible. Heritage exhibitions are, however, extremely specialised and it is not always possible to find suitable black ownership companies to deliver services and goods.

He approaches this by putting together teams of sub-contractors for specific projects with companies consisting of previously disadvantaged, equity ownership. He also employs local contractors (from the region where the project is situated) and ensures poverty relief by employing people with little or no income and teaching them basic skills.

He understands the tremendous financial strains on the heritage industry and contrary to opposition companies, try to keep profit margins minimalised to accommodate the client’s budget. This approach already ensured long-term, loyal customers.
